Our Booking PolicyPayments are taken after your lesson by card, cash, or transfer. Bookings may be cancelled or rescheduled online, or with the provider, at no cost up to 12 hours before the session. Cancellations within 12 hours, or no-shows, incur a 50% fee.

Classes

Group Lesson

1 hr··$65

Join a group surf lesson with up to 5 participants (others may book in). Ollie, the surf instructor, will help you learn to surf or improve your skills by providing valuable individualised tips and guidance to each group member.

All sessions are held at Warriewood Beach, meeting in front of the SLSC. Boards and all surfing gear are provided, though you’ll need to bring your own swimwear. Payment by card or cash is accepted after each session.

Conditions are checked on the day, and if they are unsuitable or unsafe, the lesson will be rescheduled or adapted on the beach with practice in essential surf exercises targeting balance, strength, paddling, and pop up technique!

TO BOOK IN MULTIPLE PEOPLE: Book in first participant > logout if signed in > select the same class > continue as a guest > fill in details with a different name for each new participant.

Private Lesson

In a private surf lesson, Ollie, your instructor, will help you learn or improve your surfing with focused one-on-one support.

All sessions are held at Warriewood Beach, meeting in front of the SLSC. Boards and all surfing gear are provided, though you’ll need to bring your own swimwear. Payment is accepted by card or cash after each session.

Conditions are checked on the day, and if they are unsuitable or unsafe, the lesson will either be rescheduled or adapted on the beach with practice in essential surf exercises targeting balance, strength, paddling, and pop up technique!

Private Group Lesson (2-3 participants)

1 hr··$175

In this lesson, up to 3 people can take part in a private group (no additional participants can book into the lesson). Ollie, the surf instructor, will provide valuable tips and guidance to help you learn to surf or improve your skills, with lessons held in the surf, on the beach, or at the nearby sea pool.

All sessions are held at Warriewood Beach, meeting in front of the SLSC. Boards and all surfing gear are provided, though you’ll need to bring your own swimwear. Payment by card or cash is accepted after each session.

At Shorty’s Surf School, we provide professional surfing lessons for all ages and skill levels – from complete beginners learning to surf for the first time to budding surfers ready to take their skills to the next level.

Our private surf lessons and group surf lessons are available for kids, teens, and adults, with coaching tailored to your ability. Each session is held at Warriewood Beach, one of Sydney’s most beautiful and beginner-friendly surf spots.

Lessons are led by Ollie – a qualified surf instructor with official ocean safety certifications and years of surfing experience. We focus on building water confidence, improving surfing technique, and promoting fitness in a safe, supportive environment.

Ollie is a great teacher who makes learning to surf fun and comfortable. For a first time surf lesson, he did a wonderful job at teaching our 14 year old son some surfing fundamentals, without making him feel self-conscious. We are booked in for more and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ollie!

My 10yr old enjoyed the lesson with Ollie so much he wants to continue with more! He said the instructions were good and got going quickly. From our view, it looked like Ollie was watching and keeping the two kids safe and engaged.

As an adult, sometimes taking a lesson can feel a bit confronting, but Shorty made me feel so comfortable, like I was learning from a friend. He created a supportive environment that helped me focus, gain confidence, and actually kind of ride the wave! I have booked another lesson and I’d highly recommend this school to anyone looking to learn surfing or improve their skills.
